- Quicktime Pro is not required, Magpie Pro can load and save quicktime movies and audio files with just the free version of Quicktime installed.
- New in version 2.1: You can now import a set of 3DS, OBJ, TIF or other image files in one step as with LWO and PSD. Just name the basic object or image with the name of your character and all the other poses with the convention "group.pose.ext", for example "Mouth.Smile.3DS". Then in the Actors dialog click the Import button and then "From Images..." or "From Objects...". In the file dialog select the main image or object and the program will find all the other files from the same directory.
- The following reply applies to version 2.0:
- LWO and PSD files are special because they can contain several objects or images, so from a single file Magpie Pro can create the complete actor.
- Other formats like OBJ, 3DS, TIF, etc. store a single object or image per file so you need to import several files and build the actor structure yourself. To begin, open the Edit Actors dialog box and click the "New Actor" button. Then click "New Group" once for each group you want to create. Then select each of these groups and click "New Pose" as many times as poses you want your actor to have for each group. You can give meaningful names to each element as you go if you like.
- Once you have the basic structure done you can select each pose and in the bottom part of the dialog assign an image and/or object to it. You will have to repeat this step for each pose.
- Yes. Before upgrading to version 2.1 you need to rename the Magpie Pro 2.0 folder. On Windows the location of this folder is C:\Program Files\Third Wish Software & Animation\Magpie Pro. On Mac OS X this folder is located inside the Application folder (if you followed the recommended installation instructions). Once you located the folder rename it from "Magpie Pro" to "Magpie Pro 2.0" and then verify that the software continues to launch. Now install the 2.1 upgrade on the same location.
